The third industry recognition received for CleanChain, built with the OutSystems low-code development platform
BOSTON and ATLANTA, May 22, 2018 — OutSystems congratulates customer ADEC Innovations for receiving the Top Product of the Year Award from Environmental Leader. The winning product, CleanChain, was built with the OutSystems low-code development platform. In addition, CleanChain recently received the Sustainability Product of the Year award from Business Intelligence Group and the Green Supply Chain award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive.
ADEC Innovations was honored on May 16 for this innovative app that advances greener supply chains by tracking chemicals through manufacturing processes so that companies in industries such as textiles and apparel can determine how to reduce and even eliminate hazardous chemicals from those processes. 500 users in over 35 countries use CleanChain to help reduce impacts in the supply chain and reach corporate sustainability goals and milestones.
“Receiving all this recognition illustrates the commitment of ADEC Innovations to promoting sustainability and making the world a cleaner, better place,” said Steve Rotter, CMO at OutSystems. “The CleanChain application is a game changer in the way it enables companies to take proactive efforts to keep hazardous materials out of the supply chain.”
CleanChain is one of several apps ADEC Innovations has developed since converting its app development processes to the OutSystems platform several years ago. Their goal – to shift away from traditional coding in an effort to build applications more quickly with agility.
“CleanChain is being used as part of a larger effort globally to keep pollution out of waterways, especially in developing countries that have yet to put in place the necessary regulations,” said Greg Scandrett, Director Product Development at ADEC. “We were able to build apps that these industries can use to create a real impact for local communities and the planet as a whole. And we were able to bring these solutions to market very quickly using OutSystems.”
The Environmental Leader and Energy Manager Today Product and Project Awards is a program recognizing excellence in products and services that provide companies with energy and environmental benefits, or in projects implemented by companies that improved environmental or energy management and increased the bottom line.

Recently Launched Software Solution Provides Unprecedented Transparency into Global Supply Chain Practices and Supports the Improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety Performance.
Irvine, CA, May 16, 2018 – ADEC Innovations, a pioneer in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) solutions that create positive social and environmental impacts, announced today that its CleanChain software solution has been recognized with three prestigious awards: the ‘Top Environmental Product of the Year’ Award from the Environmental Leader and Energy Manager Today Product & Project Awards, the ‘Sustainability Product of the Year’ Award from Business Intelligence Group, and the ‘Green Supply Chain Award’ from Supply & Demand Chain Executive.
CleanChain is a data management and communication tool designed to support and manage environmental and sustainability challenges throughout global supply chains. Launched in September 2016, CleanChain provides brands and retailers with a system for consolidating chemical and other supply chain data across the entire supply base. By using CleanChain, companies have the ability to engage with each other and work towards improving environmental, health, and safety practices throughout their manufacturing processes, including eliminating the discharge of hazardous chemicals.
“CleanChain is a perfect example of ADEC Innovations’ commitment to developing solutions that accelerate positive, global impact,” said Robert A. Francisco, President, ADEC Innovations. “We are proud to have developed a tool that helps brands, retailers, and manufacturers simplify and streamline chemical management across their global supply chains, empowering them to make more informed and responsible sourcing decisions – resulting in a more sustainable future.”
The Business Intelligence Group Sustainability Awards honor those organizations which have made sustainability an integral part of their business practice.
“We are so proud to reward and recognize ADEC Innovations for their sustainability efforts and smart business strategy,” said Russ Fordyce, managing director, Business Intelligence Group. “Their innovation and leadership serve as a high benchmark for other organizations and leaders around the globe.”
The Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Awards recognize companies making sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and/or supply chains.
“Honorees for this year’s award demonstrate that corporate social responsibility is a business imperative that transcends the company and extends throughout the supply chain, involving suppliers and customers,” says John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “Our honorees serve as role models for supply chains globally to expand their CSR reach and impact.”
The Environmental Leader and Energy Manager Today Product & Project Awards recognize excellence in products and services that provide companies with energy and environmental benefits, and in projects implemented by companies that result in improved environmental outcomes while positively impacting revenue.
According to Tim Hermes, publisher of Environmental Leader parent company, Business Sector Media, “With a highly respected (and critical) judging panel and a strict set of judging criteria, entrants faced an extremely high bar for the level of product or project to qualify for an award. Those who entered needed to bring their A-game to get even a sniff of award-nirvana. And they delivered.”
500 users in over 35 countries have joined CleanChain, helping companies reduce impacts in their supply chain and reach their corporate sustainability goals and milestones.

The company’s inclusion among the finalists served to validate its continued commitment to developing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) solutions and encouraging the private sector to do its part in contributing to sustainable development.

ADEC Innovations is known for delivering to the global market innovative and groundbreaking sustainable business solutions such as The ZDHC Gateway – Chemical Module, a safer chemistry database developed with the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Programme. ZDHC is a global alliance of apparel, footwear and textile companies committed to ensuring sustainability in their global supply chains.
Along with ZDHC, ADEC Innovations developed CleanChain, a chemical management software designed to help companies identify and eliminate harmful chemicals from their manufacturing processes.
It also developed CDPInsights, which helps companies track, benchmark and maximise CDP performance so companies can improve climate change strategies and programs in both the short and long term. Having built the most comprehensive collection of self-reported environmental data in the world, CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) runs the global disclosure system that enables companies, cities, states and regions to measure and manage their environmental impacts.

Supplier Leadership Index is newest way to benchmark best practices and for CDP Supply Chain Program Members to evaluate suppliers
IRVINE, CA and LONDON, UK (January 21, 2014) – FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS), a pioneer in environmental and sustainability business solutions, and CDP, the leading NGO providing the only global environmental disclosure system, today announced the debut publication of the Supplier Climate Performance Leadership Index (SCPLI), a new evaluation and benchmarking tool for CDP supply chain members and suppliers.
Compiled by FCS on behalf of CDP, the index is based on supply chain program data from 2,868 suppliers that are disclosing climate change data at the request of CDP’s 64 supply chain members, which represent a combined spending power of nearly US$1.15 trillion. The 79 companies included in the index demonstrate strong and transparent climate strategies and emissions reduction programs.
“Suppliers have been asking for a way to benchmark their climate change performance since FCS became the exclusive scoring partner for the CDP Supply Chain program in 2011,” says Robert Francisco, president of FirstCarbon Solutions. “With the launch of the Supplier Leadership Index, FCS and CDP recognize the top 3% of suppliers who are committed to integrating climate resiliency programs into their overall business strategies which leads to unprecedented operational efficiencies, cost savings, revenue opportunities, and positive planet stewardship.”
These leading suppliers demonstrate a number of defining characteristics in their CDP survey responses, including:
- Board-level oversight on climate planning along with monetary incentives for emission reductions
- Substantive detail on how climate change is integrated into risk management and corporate strategy planning
- Scope 1 and Scope 2 reduction targets
- Evidence of Scope 1 & Scope 2 emissions reduction activities that delivered significant results
- Independent third-party assurance of Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions
